In most areas where it is necessary to prune trees, a tree trimmer will be needed. But how should one choose the best tree trimming equipment? There are four main categories of tree trimming equipment that Tree Trimming Tucson uses, each with its own strengths and limitations. These categories are:
Early Spring Cut Branches: The earliest type of equipment is a small hand-held pruning shears. One can easily trim back shallow, green up stems in early spring. Tree pruners come in various selections: Larger extended tree saws with an extending blade on the end of a long extendable pole, enabling you to trim branches from the ground up in early spring. Spaced between branches and free from a center hook, one can easily trim back any kind of branch lengthwise in early spring. If you have a tree that is too large to reach, one can use a tree bough. You may also try pruning shears that enable you to trim branches at an angle.
Chainsaw: A chainsaw is ideal for tree cutting in the winter when you are unable to reach your pruning shears. When using a chainsaw, be sure not to get the extension hooked too far up the branch as it can damage the branch. Ideally, aim for a two-inch gap between the extension and the tip of the branch. However, since you are cutting a tree in the early spring, that gap may be much smaller. For large branches, aim for at least a three-inch gap. It would be even better if you could hook a second chainsaw to assist in trimming larger branches.
Ladder & Pole Saw: If you are buying a pole saw for tree trimming but do not want to use a chainsaw, this is an excellent alternative. By using a ladder and/or pole saw, you can easily cut away branches without having to use a chainsaw. However, these are very heavy and you may need someone to help you hold them while you use the tool. It would be much safer to use a ladder to cut large branches without using the saw.
Pruning Shears: Also referred to as cutters or pruners, pruning shears are ideal for trimming dead, damaged, or injured live branches. If you opt to buy pruning shears, you should opt for metal blades. Metal blades are less likely to bend when hit by the wind. Also, you should take care not to get the blades too close to the prune when you are cutting it because it might accidentally catch fire or get stuck.
Trimming Cloths: In some cases, you might need to use tree trimming cloths which can be either attached to your shears or hidden from view. This is great for small trees, such as palms and fruit trees. These cloths allow you to trim smaller branches and leaves. However, if you need to trim larger branches, then these tools are not your best option because they can damage and rip up your thicker and bulkier branches.
Tree Trimming Attachments: If you’re having trouble clipping branches, you might want to consider purchasing a tree care package with tree trimming attachments. These devices allow you to trim any number of branches without worrying about damaging your other equipment. Using an attachment will also allow you to fix branches that are out of position.
Loppers: Also known as cutters, loppers are a versatile piece of equipment. You can use them to trim smaller branches or twigs, prune trees, and trim hedges. Also, some people prefer using loppers because they are less costly than some other types of pruning tools. Loppers are different from scissors in that they do not have a cutting blade on the end. Instead, there is a hook or a bar on the side which allows you to grab the branch you want to trim. Loppers are typically used when you don’t have access to a full-sized lopper.
